How To Install Rogero 4.40 v1.03 (PS3)

May 29, 2013 01:37:15

The upgrading of the well known firmware for Roger PS3 in version 4.40 v1.03 has recently been released and I decided to move from the very good 3.55 to the newer version.

What you need:
The latest version of Rogero 4.40 v1.03 cfw
A USB Flash Drive or an external drive.
To have already installed one of the following versions: OFW 3.55, 3.55 Kmeaw cfw, Roger 3.55 cfw, Roger 4.21 cfw, Roger 4.30 cfw or Rogero 4.40 cfw.

Remove the game from the PS3 (if you have one), because during the upgrade it can "grab" the OFW from the game.

Download the CFW only from the official links (above link), so you can be sure that you have the original CFW and not nothing "tweaked".

First you have to do a NOR/Nand dump. Go to Multiman and choose file manager. There choose which file you want and with a circle choose to open it in hex. Here press Select, then Start and then in the first two choices select "NO" and in the third select YES. You need to have a USB Stick on the right PS3 slot before doing this, to save the dump file.

Download the "Rogero_CEX_4.40_v1.03.PUP" file and rename it to "PS3UPDAT.PUP".
Now make a new folder in the Root of the USB Flash (or the HDD) and name it "PS3". Within this folder make another folder and name it "UPDATE".

So you will have something like x:PS3/UPDATE (where "X" is the letter of the USB Flash (or HDD), where you will move the "PS3UPDAT.PUP" file you have previously rename.

Place the USB Flash on the right PS3 slot, turn it on and go to "System Update" and select "Update via Storage Media" and just follow the instructions.

Note that you should also upgrade Multiman, because older versions do not work with the latest version of Rogero, and you will also need to rebuild the "EBOOT" files of each game to run from Rogero (alternatively you can delete the "patched" files for the CFW 3.55 and replace them with the originals if you have them or if you can find them from the internet).

Testing Rogero...
