Connect the PS3 and PC with LAN

If you often transfer large files from your PC to PlayStation 3, the classic way with the wireless network does not allow high speeds. Below, is a guide on how to transfer large files to really high speeds.

Note: With this way, your PC will not have internet connection while uploading files on PS3.

Needed

  • An Ethernet cable
  • A PS3 with a 3.15/3.41/3.55 Jailbreaked firmware installed.
  • An FTP App (eg BlackBox FTP 1.2) or a backup manager.
  • An Ethernet LAN connector on PC
  • FTP Client (eg FlashFXP or Filezilla)

Step 1 - PC

Windows 7

From the "Control Panel", go to "Network and Internet" and then to "View network status and tasks". You will view the "Network and Sharing Center". From the left, select "Change adapter settings". From there, see which device corresponds to the computer's LAN socket, right-click on it and select "properties". From there select "Internet Protocol Version 4 (TCP/IPv4)" and then "Properties". From there select "Use the following IP address:" and then "Use the following DNS server addresses:"

Windows XP

From "Start" go to "Connect to" and then select "Show all connections". From there, see which device corresponds to the computer's LAN socket, right-click on it and select "properties". From there select "Internet Protocol Version 4 (TCP/IPv4)" and then "Properties". From there select "Use the following IP address:" and then "Use the following DNS server addresses:"

Fill the fields like in the image below:

Step 2 - PS3

Go to "settings" and select "Network Settings". Then select "Internet Connection Settings". Press ΟΚ and then select "Custom", "Wired Connection", "Auto-Detect" and finally "Manual".
Fill the fields like below:
IP Address 10.1.1.2
Subnet Mask 255.255.255.0
Defualt Router 10.1.1.0
Primary DNS 10.1.1.0
Secondary DNS 10.1.1.10

Select "Automatic", "Do Not Use" and then "enable". Press X for the options to be saved. You can select "Test" to see if connects with the IP you wrote above. It can't connect with the internet though.

Run the FTP program or the backup manager (they are working and as FTP Manager). You should see as IP the 10.1.1.2 .

Step 3 - FTP

Run the FTP program on your PC and then put the PS3's IP (10.1.1.2 on Port 21). Try to upload a file on your PS3 to see if works.
